Optimising Resources & Infrastructure

Lanele Group is a privately owned South African company with a strong track record in the downstream oil, gas, and energy sector. Our expertise spans fuel manufacturing, wholesaling, and distribution, both locally and through imports. We are actively involved in refining, petroleum infrastructure, and the trading and logistics of petroleum products, ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain.

Our Large-Scale Projects​

Durban Port—Ambrose Park

Lanele Group secured a 30-year concession with Transnet for a 7-hectare site at Durban Port to develop a 225,000 m³ bulk fuel import and storage terminal.

Lanele Fuel Import & Storage Terminal

Lanele Group secured a 30-year concession with Transnet for a 7-hectare site at Durban Port to develop a 225,000 m³ bulk fuel import and storage terminal. Designed for multi-modal logistics, the facility enables fuel distribution via road, rail, and pipeline to South Africa’s largest fuel-consuming regions. Phase 1 (120,000 m³) construction began in July 2020, with a total project value of R2.5 billion.

Lanele Group is advising Bay Terminal Group on a 150,000 m³ liquid fuels storage terminal under a concession with the Coega Development Corporation (CDC). The project spans 8 hectares with a total value of R1 billion.

Bio -refinery

Lanele Group, in partnership with NEF and Ineos Bio, completed feasibility for a R2 billion commercial-scale bio refinery project aligned with South Africa’s Biofuels Regulations. The plant, modeled after Ineos Bio’s facility in Florida, will produce 100 million litres of ethanol annually and 10MW of power for export.

Rail & Shipping

Lanele Group, in partnership with TFR and Dovetail Logistics, has developed a rail service with ringfenced wagons for improved efficiency. A real-time tracking system enhances visibility, optimises logistics, and ensures on-time deliveries.

Lanele Trading — FZCO Dubai Office

Lanele Group has expanded its operations internationally by establishing Lanele Trading – FZCO in Dubai, UAE, in 2024.

Burner Fuel Oil Manufacturing

Lanele Group holds wholesale and manufacturing licenses from the Department of Energy (DoE) and an import permit. It successfully produced Grade 1 and Grade 2 Eskom Fuel, ensuring compliance and safety, with a capacity of over 5 million litres per month.
